Free App Store screenshot checker
Check your screenshots before App Store Connect or the Play Console does. Drop in PNG or JPEG files to see each one’s exact size, real file type, and whether it has an alpha channel, then whether it matches an Apple or Google Play size.

PNG or JPEG, as many as you like
Checked in your browser. Your images are never uploaded.
Need screenshots at the right size? AppPicz exports App Store and Google Play sizes for iPhone, iPad, and Android at their exact dimensions, as PNGs with no alpha channel.
What the checker tests
- File type: read from the file’s first bytes, so a JPEG renamed to .png is caught. Apple accepts .jpeg, .jpg, or .png; Google Play accepts JPEG or 24-bit PNG.
- Pixel size: compared against every size Apple lists, in portrait and landscape, and against Google Play’s screenshot rules and 1024 × 500 feature graphic.
- Alpha and transparency: flags PNGs with an alpha channel (color type 4 or 6) or a tRNS chunk, and scans the pixels to tell a fully opaque alpha channel from real transparency.
Specs last verified 2026-10-22 against Apple and Google Play. See every size and rule in the App Store screenshot size guide.
Frequently asked questions
Are my screenshots uploaded anywhere?
No. The checker reads each file in your browser with JavaScript, and the images never leave your device. If you've accepted analytics cookies, the page records only how many files were checked and how many passed, never the files or anything in them.
What does the checker look at?
The real file type (from the file's own bytes, not its name), the exact pixel dimensions, and whether the image has an alpha channel or transparency. It then matches the size against Apple's and Google Play's published screenshot specifications, in portrait and landscape.
Why does a fully opaque PNG fail?
A PNG can be saved with an alpha channel even when every pixel is opaque. Apple's specification says "Images can’t include alpha channels or transparencies.", and Google Play asks for JPEG or 24-bit PNG with no alpha, so re-export the image without an alpha channel.
What is a tRNS chunk?
It's a part of a PNG file that marks certain colors as transparent, without a full alpha channel. It still makes the image transparent, so the checker flags it.
How does the checker handle Google Play screenshots?
Google Play doesn't use fixed sizes: each side must be 320 to 3,840 pixels and the longer side can't be more than twice the shorter. The checker applies those rules and notes whether the image also meets Google's recommended 9:16 or 16:9 minimum of 1080 × 1920.
How many screenshots can I upload per size?
Apple allows up to 10 per device size, and the checker warns if more than 10 of your files share one size. Google Play allows up to 8 per device type.
